Girl Guides of Canada is actively seeking a **_Property Caretaker _**_(Permanent - Part time)_
- _Camp Kanada, 600 West Petpeswick Rd, Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia_

**About This Opportunity**

Reporting to the Legal Specialist (or assigned designate i.e. Property Chair or committee member, in this role, you will be a part of Camp Kanada or Lewi Lake. As Property Caretaker, your overall goal is to ensure that the properties are in safe working order for the use of members and/or third-party renters.

**In this role you will**:

- Work collaboratively with volunteer committee to ensure that the property you support is maintained in good working order.
- Perform regular inspections and make basic repairs when possible.
- Coordinate and manage third-party contractors to perform tasks that require specialized knowledge and/or experience.
- Perform annual tasks associated with opening and closing of the property when applicable.
- Be available on call on weekends or when camp in use during the week for summer camps to respond to emergencies as reported by camp users (or notify HRCMC Chair two weeks in advance when not available).
- Ensure camp building is accessible prior to each camp e.g. walkways shovelled and sanded (winter maintenance)
- Complete a full property inspection after each camp, confirming key returned to lock box(es), submit a report of any deficiencies to the HRCMC Oversight immediately after the inspection.
- Submit a drinking water sample test quarterly, and chemical test biennially, to Twin Oaks Hospital lab using the GGC Client number and account code Monday to Thursday 7:00 am-11:00 am. For Lewis Lake Cobequid Community Health Center Monday to Friday 7:00am to 12:00pm.
- Perform annual tasks associated with mechanical and/or equipment maintenance as applicable.
- Purchase required supplies within approved spending limits for the camp e.g. sand, tools, lawnmower gasoline, using the GGC Purchase card and submit receipts to HRCMC Treasurer within 7 days.
- Other duties as assigned by the HRCM Committee.

**General**:

- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
- Liaise with other departments as required.
- Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- ** **Knowledge of property management principles
- The knowledge and ability to operate hand tools, machinery (ride on lawn mower, whipper snipper, etc.)
- Ability to deal with or identify how to deal with common problems related to plumbing, electrical, septic systems, propane systems, appliances, motors, etc.
- Physically able to perform a variety of general maintenance and repair work.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Some heavy lifting required, bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods of time, comfortable with ladders.
- A valid driver’s license and a driver’s abstract that meets the requirements of GGC-GduC's insurance provider (3-year clean record)
- Clean Police Record Check (PRC)

**Starting Hourly Salary**:$15.20 (up to 10 hours per week)
- Salary based on Nova Scotia_
