**Pastoral Minister (Lay Ecclesial Minister)**

**Position**: Part-time Pastoral Minister (LEM) - Adult and Ongoing Formation

**Office Location**: primary location - 20 Morrison Drive, St. Thomas, ON

**Commitment**: 14 hours per week. Hours of work and working conditions will enable a flexible time schedule mutually agreed upon with the Pastor. Must be available to work some evenings and/or weekends.

**Salary**: In accordance with the Diocese of London guidelines.

The Elgin Roman Catholic Family of Parishes serves the Roman Catholics of Elgin County in four Parishes. Reporting to the Pastor and working in collaboration with the Pastoral team, the part-time Pastoral Minister will focus on providing programing and leadership in ongoing adult faith formation. This position will focus on RCIA programming, Alpha course training, providing adult retreats and the creation of small faith sharing groups. Working successfully with volunteers in all programs is vital.

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:

- Work as part of a faith filled Pastoral Team
- Prayerfully gather as part of the Pastoral Team
- To plan and implement adult faith formation opportunities
- To collaborate with the other Pastoral Minister(s)
- To recruit, train, and support volunteers
- To assist with parish outreach in all 4 parishes within the Elgin Roman Catholic Family of Parishes

**Primary Focuses: Adult Faith Formation**

Programs:

- RCIA For Adults (Jan-May)
- Meet with and interview adults (18+) inquiring about the Catholic faith to determine eligibility and complete necessary paperwork
- Choose curriculum and schedule weekly sessions
- Recruit, train and support volunteers to facilitate weekly sessions
- Plan RCIA liturgical rites and celebrations
- Alpha (Oct-Dec)
- Support the planning of Alpha
- Work with Alpha leaders to provide introduction to the faith
- Adult Retreats (Jan & March)
- Support the planning of two weekend retreats for adults
- Train and support leadership of retreats

Ongoing support:

- Bereavement Team Support
- Support and train an active group of volunteers
- Small Faith Sharing Group Support
- Collect and distribute small faith sharing resources to small faith sharing groups

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**:

- Master of Divinity and/or Certificate in Pastoral Ministry or a program deemed by the Diocese as equivalent (completed, in progress or willing to acquire)
- Must be an active practicing Catholic, a Pastor’s letter of recommendation is required
- Good working knowledge of the evangelizing mission of the Church
- Well developed leadership skills including the ability to effectively delegate and trust in others are necessary
- Advanced organizational skills, teaching skills and strong verbal and written communication skills are required
- Ability to successfully work independently, as well as part of a team
- Prior experience recruiting, training and supporting volunteers
- Ability and willingness to work flexible and non-standard hours of work including evenings and weekends
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license to travel throughout the community is an asset.
