**A Day in the Life**

Reporting to the Director, Campus Safety Services, the Special Constable contributes to a safe, secure and welcoming environment for the Brock community through crime prevention, education, and enforcement working within a community-based security model. In exercising their duties, Special Constables uphold the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

**As a Special Constable, you will**:

- Promote goodwill and cooperation by maintaining a positive working relationship with University departments and community groups along with local law enforcement agencies;
- Champion a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion across the campus community;
- Liaise with Brock staff, provide support to patrol section, prepare reports, and provide guidance to the platoon;
- Follow-up on assignments, interview suspects and witnesses and obtain statements from parties involved;
- Secure investigation scenes, search, and/or secure evidence where appropriate; Review Incident Reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conduct any follow-ups as required;
- Conduct patrols of the University, enforce the laws of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC), provincial statutes, by-laws, and University policy and procedures;
**What you need to Succeed**
- Completion of a 2-year College Diploma in Law and Security, Police Foundations, and/or acceptable service with a recognized Canadian Police service as a Peace/Police Officer;
- Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Constable or Special Constable Selection System Certificate of Results, or the OACP Equivalency Certificate or an Ontario Police College Recruit Training Certificate;
- CPR, First Aid, AED certification;
- Valid Police Clearance Certificate;
- Valid Ontario driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract;
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in policing or security;

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $56,531.00-$76,109.00 per year
