**Title of the Position: Professor and Research Chair on “Education and Francophone Communities in Ontario”**
The Faculty of Education wishes to develop the educational research hub for Ontario’s minority francophone communities. This position/chair, leading to tenure, focuses on research, graduate student training and the mobilization of knowledge on all issues and challenges in education affecting Ontario’s minority francophone linguistic communities.
**A - Duties related to the position of professor**
The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) scholarly activities revealed by research, artistic or literary creation, or professional work; c) academic service activities, d) supervision of graduate students.

**Chair Title: Education and Francophone Communities in Ontario**
The proposed research program will focus on francophone education in French-speaking Ontario and its issues related to diversity and inclusion, among other things, as well as the linguistic vitality of Ontario’s francophone communities. The incumbent may be interested in one (or more) levels of education (from early childhood to higher education). The term education is here considered in a broad sense, not necessarily limited to school environments.
The Ontario Francophone Communities and Education Research Chair will be explicitly attached to the Faculty of Education and the Collège des chaires sur le monde francophone (CCRMF) at the University of Ottawa. This program of excellence is one of the most important dynamos of Franco-Ontarian, Canadian and international research. In addition to the financial and educational benefits associated with this Research Chair, the Research Chair in “Education and Francophone Communities in Ontario” will be one of 11 chairs in the program and will be supported and coordinated by the College of Research Chairs.
The Chair is primarily defined by the areas of research on which the researcher’s work focuses and is in line with the University’s Strategic Research Axes.
The five-year Chair in Education and Francophone Communities of Ontario, which is renewable once, is supported by an annual research fund of $25,000 over the duration of the mandate (a total of $250,000 over 10 years). The incumbent will be required to devote all the resources of the proposed program to research, fundraising, and knowledge mobilization and dissemination.
In addition, the incumbent may, after an agreement with the Faculty, benefit from at least two course releases per year (6 credits) to work on the various components and tasks of his or her research program (totalling at least 20 course releases over 10 years).
The person selected will need to have clear leadership and an exemplary commitment to promoting French-language education and research, particularly in French-speaking Ontario. They will be called upon to actively participate in the activities of the Collège des chaires de recherche sur le monde francophone and to collaborate regularly with the other CCRMF chairs.
**Wage**: Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $89,622 (as of May 1, 2023)
**The anticipated start date is set for July 1, 2023.**
