**UNIT: Maintenance**

**STATUS: Part-Time**

**START DATE: Immediately**

**SALARY RANGE: $31.26 - $33.23 per hour**

The Skilled Trades position provides quality services for operating and maintaining a Healthcare facility in accordance with the established procedures. Also provides quality maintenance services to the hospital equipment, facilities, and grounds. General maintenance ability is required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Possession of a valid Provincial Certificate of Qualification by the Ontario Ministry of Skills and Development for the Province of Ontario
- 2-3 years previous maintenance/skilled trade experience plus the required hours to complete the apprenticeship program. Knowledgeable in electrical, plumbing, mechanical with utility equipment preferred
- Knowledge of boilers, controls, pumps, diesel generators, water treatment, compressors, auxiliary equipment preferred

**POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**:

- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Responsible for prioritizing and completion of duties in a timely fashion
- Identifies environmental opportunities to improve conditions/efficiency of operations
- Operates machinery, equipment, and power tools in a safe manner
- Able to work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Assist contractors during construction projects as required.
- Maintains building temperatures
- Performs boiler tests and building checks daily
- Lead, support or participate in key activities or action plans as identified on applicable Operational Plans

**HOURS OF WORK: 0700**-1500 or 0900-1700; Weekends as per rotating schedule. Must be able to take after hours on call as per rotating schedule.

- Evening shift
- On call
- Weekends as needed
