Buyer / Procurement

Day Shift - 5 x 8 hour shifts - Monday to Friday; 8am-430pm

**Responsibilities may include**:

- Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; expedite parts to ensure production flow and eliminate shortages
- Obtain purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders
- Update delivery schedule to match production demand
- Assess supplier profiles and analyze quotes
- Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics to negotiate contracts and policies with suppliers
- Provide support and interact with cross functional teams (Planning, Value Stream Leaders, Supervisors, and Engineering
- Take direction from others, maintaining a positive disposition and collaborative approach
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
- Work with other procurement team members to split daily tasks accordingly
- Striving for continuous improvements to strengthen the purchasing role process

**Skills and Experience**:

- Previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- 3 years previous experience in a purchasing role
- Negotiating contracts
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures
- Positive Tigercat work history, pleasant demeanor with good organizational and decision-making skills
- Education or equivalent experience in activities related to manufacturing, supply chain management, production planning and/or scheduling
- Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
- Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices
- Working knowledge of MS Office and MRP systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong analytical mindset
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Able to carefully analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different vendors and contract terms, and be able to choose the best option so products come in at the scheduled time and under the proposed budget
- Willing to travel to multiple facilities when required
