Grades K-12 Relief/on-call Worker

Metlakatla First Nation and the Grades K-12 Department have an immediate opening for an on-call Relief Worker in Metlakatla. You will have the responsibility to perform a wide range of coverages for the department within the scope of your experience and qualifications.
This position is a relief/on-call position (Monday - Friday).
- Available for on-call work, short notice relief worker for the Grades K-12 Department.
- Supervise students on the ferry (both in the morning and after school).
- Ensure that ONLY students are on the “School Ferry Run”.
- Walk with students from Metlakatla Ferry Dock to the School bus in a safe manner.
- Ensure all students are dropped off at the appropriate schools.
- May work out of the Conrad School and be available for teacher assistance while at Conrad School.
- Be available for calls from other schools regarding Metlakatla Students.
- Return to Metlakatla after school to drop students in the community.
- Perform tasks as requested from time-to-time to cover a position and department within the scope of your abilities.
- Maintain a professional image and demeanour with all students, employees, Members and visitors at all times.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions and with open documents and files.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to embodying a personal addiction-free lifestyle.
- Provide a current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment.
- Must be fully COVID vaccinated and remain in full compliance with all public health orders and Band policies.
- Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned.
**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A positive attitude in the workplace is required, as is the ability to adhere to all Human Resources, Operational and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Self-motivated, ability to work safely and independently without constant supervision.
- Care about the quality of work and can work well on a team.
- Good organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution, time management, interpersonal skills, confidentiality, professional conduct, sound judgement, respectful, diplomacy, empathy, sympathy and integrity.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to embodying a personal addiction-free lifestyle.
- Able to work inside and outside in extreme weather conditions.
