Iwami is a new concept of Modern Japanese cuisine in the heart of Toronto's financial district. We pride ourselves in our quick and easy counter service style for lunch, transitioning into a dinner destination in the evening. Our menu revolves around modern takes on Japanese cuisine, with innovative sushi rolls, and a modern Japanese kitchen.

At Iwami, the position of **Sushi Cook **is responsible for making dishes according to specifications and standards of the company. They are also required to set up their station to ensure a smooth service. The sushi cook position consists of assisting the Sushi chef with their daily tasks.

**Responsibilities**
- Set up and stock station with all necessary supplies, and equipment
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering fish, or preparing sauces)
- Prepare all types of sushi, including maki, nigiri and sashimi
- Work with the culinary team to create a rich sushi menu with various main ingredients and raw fish
- Answer, report and follow executive chef and sushi chef's instructions
- Clean up station, ensuring that the space is in a tidy manner
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in a timely fashion, up to the company's standards
- Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES**
- Basic understanding of various cooking methods, food handling and preparation methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Previous experience in a sushi restaurant is an asset.
- Organizational skills
- Flexible schedule

**Prerequisites**:

- Conversational English is mandatory
- Be able to keep up in a fast paced environment
- Be open minded and willing to learn
- Sushi experience not necessary

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $16.55 per hour

Additional pay:
