Your Opportunity:
The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) Critical Care Program consists of General Systems Intensive Care Unit (GSICU) and the Edmonton Firefighters’ Burn Treatment. General Systems ICU and the Edmonton Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Unit are looking for: Second Year Nursing students to join our team as Heath Care Aides Nursing students must be enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program and have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is responsible for assisting with the operational needs in the Critical Care Program at the UAH (GSICU/Surge/Burn Unit). It is a program requirement to be trained and work on the Burn Unit and GSICU. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate in a concise and accurate manner. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The HCA must be able to identify their own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficit occurs.

Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
