**Design Drafter/GIS Technician**

An exciting and challenging opportunity is available for a self-motivated, results-oriented, dynamic individual to be a part of a customer-focused energy distribution corporation serving over 24,500 customers in fifteen communities within Grey, Bruce, Huron, and Wellington Counties. This position reports directly to the Manager of Engineering and key responsibilities include:

- Assembles resource data for drawing production from established standards and guidelines provided.
- Determines and verifies distribution circuit configurations and plant locations through field checks.
- Interprets technical information on work order documents and transfers to engineering records.
- Assists in the design of individual supply circuits for service installations and line changes to accommodate service requirements.
- Assists in the preparation of agreements, tenders, work orders and cost estimates for service installations and line changes.
- Create and maintain computerized records in both AutoCAD and GIS.
- Monitor project assignments and maintain GIS file database.
- Provide drafting for large scale projects.
- Develop and maintain drafting standards.
- Provide in-house digitized land-based development, including maintaining land rights records.
- Maintain distribution schematics.
- Set up and maintain project files, providing cross-referencing to registered plans, construction verification certificates, and other references that may be related.
- Answer and log calls in the event of a power outage and notify customers in the event of a planned power interruption.
- Maintains and requisitions drafting equipment and supplies.
- Performs some relief to maintain business functions as required.
- Performs such other functions and duties as assigned.

Qualifications/skills:

- Must have a two-year post-secondary diploma from a community college in a Technical discipline that includes AutoCAD and GIS as an integral part of the curriculum
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Knowledge of ArcMap GIS and ESRI Products.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work from engineering prints (civil and electrical design drawings), sketches, technical manuals, specifications, and reports.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Good understanding of electrical fundamentals, distribution system configuration, distribution system equipment and facilities.
- Must have excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adhere to the policies and legislation, which relate to the safe construction, operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
- Valid Driver’s license (class G).
