**About Us**

The Catholic Centre for immigrants (CCI) has been serving refugees and immigrants for more than 65 years. CCI is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. We also work in the community to promote the value of a diverse and more welcoming community for all.

**Position Summary**

**This position reports to**: The Program Manager

**Employment status**:35 hrs/week -Term until May 2, 2025

**Salary**: $28.66/hr

**Starting Date**: As soon as possible

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Assess and respond to initial needs of GARs
- Intensive support to vulnerable refugee clients
- Provide interpretation and accompany GARs to facilitate access to services
- Perform home visits and in-person follow-ups
- Establish and maintain concrete links between GARS and existing resources in the community
- Capacity Building: Develop outreach initiatives, educational materials and sustainable strategies that are responsive to the complex needs of GAR clients
- Participate in activities that educate the community about the issues and barriers faced by GARs
- Organize & facilitate workshops to orient GARs to their new community, Canadian culture & social norms
- Evaluate client progress at the beginning, middle and end of the program
- Maintain documentation and data entry. Prepare statistical information as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in the Social Services field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders
- Fluency in English is required. French and other languages are a strong asset
- Knowledge and understanding of refugee issues with ability to outreach to newcomer communities
- Familiarity with programs and services available in Ottawa
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent presentation skills, interpersonal skills, mediation skills, and cross-cultural competence
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Office 365, PowerPoint, Excel and Social Media
- Ability to deal with confidential material and matters, and refugees with complex needs
- Availability to work in a hybrid model and a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
