Halifax, Canada Souls Harbour Rescue Mission Full time

**Position could be either full time (Tues-Sat, 1:30 - 9:30) or part time (Tues-Sat, 5:30 - 9:30)

**Scope of Position**: Mission Mart is a thrift store staffed 90% by volunteers, ensuring higher net profit margin to support the everyday work of Souls Harbour — providing food, clothing, shelter, recovery, prison outreach, and the Gospel Message in our Halifax, Bridgewater and Truro locations, as well as future growth. The Mission Mart Evening & Weekend Supervisor will be a person who is passionate about thrift retail, and who can see the high value of their role, in relation to the front line work of ministering to those in need in our province. The Evening & Weekend Supervisor will create a welcoming environment through positive reinforcement of volunteers, outstanding customer service, captivating retail design, and efficient stockroom practices.

**Location of Position**: Mission Mart, 265 Susie Lake Crescent

**Reports to**:Store Manager

**Authority**: As assigned by store manager, charge & oversight of store and volunteers. Key & codeholder

**Non-Negotiable Requirements**:

- Must be willing to abide by the Doctrinal and Mission Statement of SHRM
- Must hold to the constitution and by-laws of SHRM
- Must be bondable
- WHMIS and first aid

**Qualifications**:

- Knowledge and experience in related retail field
- Business administration aptitude with proven leadership ability
- Managerial ability with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of cash register or point of sale system and basic barcode knowledge

**Expected Results**:
**Objectives**:Maintain a welcoming store environment for shoppers, volunteers and donors, while working within the policies and procedures of Mission Mart, the general guidelines of the Better Business Bureau and the Association of Christian Thrift Stores.

**Specific Duties**:

- Oversee the daily operation of the store when manager is absent
- Hold to the RAD philosophy of management (Roam, Assist, Delegate)
- Manage open and close procedures including cash counting as requested by Manager
- Communicate on an ongoing basis with volunteers and customers to gain community support and to solicit feedback for improving store activities
- Oversee the monitoring of receiving and production areas to ensure donations are ready to be sorted and priced daily.
- Create a positive, uplifting environment for volunteers
- Provide oversight to volunteers on duty
- Assist in training, guidance and retention of volunteers to reach their full potential
- Other duties as assigned by Manager

This position is primarily evenings and weekends. Full time hours with benefits after 3 months (50% paid by SHRM).
