**Your Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Senior Environmental Compliance Engineer, the Environmental Specialist will provide environmental expertise and support to operations and projects and technology by leading the identification of environmental risks and controls to eliminate or mitigate these risks. The Specialist recommends, develops, facilitates and oversees the environmental management program to ensure compliance with the approval to operate and applicable laws and regulations. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide expertise in response to environmental emergencies
- Develop, review and implement environmental protection plans, ensuring company and employee exposure to risks are either eliminated or minimized
- Conduct environmental inspections and follow-up on resulting actions
- Lead, participate and review incident investigations and recommend corrective actions
- Prepare scopes of work and provide technical reviews of proposal as well as recommendations for contract award
- Supervise and manage contractors and consultants
- Manage and execute the Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP) to ensure that all aspects meet the requirements of the Approval to Operate

**Your Profile**:

- Relevant diploma or degree in Environmental Engineering, Science or Technology
- 5+ years of combined experience with 3+ years focusing on water/groundwater and soil sampling and analysis, wildlife monitoring, developing and implementing erosion control plans and additional experience in the coordination of environment activities (preferably in a mining or industrial operation)
- Experience in project management, including developing work scopes for contractors and consultants
- Thorough understanding of applicable environmental regulations
- Working with teams to gain their commitment, confidence and awareness of high level HSE practice and standards
