Ballad Group is seeking to hire a** Psychologist** in Red Deer; a key part-time role for our Red Deer Work Employment Readiness and Connections Program. We know that’s a mouth full, so you can call it the RD WERC program. We invite those who love working as an employment specialist and job coach with extraordinary relationship building skills.

But who is Ballad Group? Well, our training programs have built capacity in diverse areas including entrepreneurship, insurance, information and computer technology, construction, French language acquisition, hospitality, supply chain management, and more. We have delivered unique training programs for a variety of organizations, Indigenous Communities and on behalf of the Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Northern Development, the Ministry of Seniors, Community & Social Services, Ministry of Children’s Services and Employment and Social Development Canada.

But what about the WERC program? Well, the goal of the WERC program is to develop and administer individually focused direct skill enhancement training and job placement to enable multi-barriered Albertans find and maintain employment.

**The Opportunity**

The **Psychologist** will have a vital role in Ballad’s WERC program. This position will support participants of the WERC program to develop the skills and resources they need to enhance social functioning and referral to other supportive social services.

This position is a sub-contractor role.

This position is in Red Deer and will out of Ballad’s Red Deer Training Centre.

This position works closely with the WERC Program Team and will report to the WERC Program Coordinator.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems and determine the types of services required
- Provide counsel and therapy to assist clients in developing skills to deal with and resolve their social and personal problems
- Plan programs of assistance for clients including referral to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services
- Serve as a WERC Program Team members to provide guidance on individual service plans
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and social programs
- May provide public education and consultation to professionals or groups regarding counselling services, issues and met

**Program Reporting**:

- Prepare and submit required program reports to the WERC Program Coordinator.

**Experience**

The position requires the following skills, experiences, and abilities:
A professional with proven experience collaborating with unemployed individuals and groups, building and maintaining relationships with staff and external community members.
- A recognized and relevant post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized college and/or university is required.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a related role.
- Experience in mental health services, supportive housing programs, group facilitation and working with clients with complex health needs.
- Highly engaged with the Red Deer community and agencies will be considered an asset but not required
- Public speaking or group facilitation within a formal environment or on the job required.
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- A genuine desire to build relationships with various population groups, employers, and internal/external stakeholders
- Exposure to diversity and inclusion programs is an asset
- Ability to work independently while on a team is required

**Hourly Rate**: To be negotiated
