**The Opportunity**

At the YMCA, we believe in the power of every young person to shine. We offer free recreational drop-in programs at the Lunenburg County YMCA fitness Centre on 75 High Street Every Thursday evening and Saturday morning. Our dedicated Youth Program Staff ensure that every program is inclusive, fun, safe, and respectful for all. Together, we can overcome obstacles and realize the collective strength of our community.

**Responsibilities**
- Interest with working with children/youth up to age 18
- Willingness to facilitate large groups of youth in a variety of activities
- Work with mínimal supervision while cooperating with other staff and/or volunteers
- Work to create an environment that is physically and emotionally safe for youth to fully participate to the best of their ability
- Provide flexible and equal and equitable treatment when accommodating individual needs within the accepted boundaries, actively intervene when individuals are not following the core values, use respectful language, communicate the YMCA Mission, Vision and Values to others, and be sensitive to cultural differences and individual circumstances
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings and workshops as indicated by your supervisor
- Develop and execute weekly program plans to promote skill development, team work and fun.
- Available for varying part-time shifts for program delivery. Responsibilities include but not limited to set up and clean up of activities, ensure participant sign in, address discipline issues and incident/accident reports, interact with participants to address concerns and input, ensure adequate supervision in all program areas and ensure Adult Volunteers and Youth Leaders are adhering to their volunteer commitment.
- Review the program materials on a regular basis and advise supervisor of materials/equipment/inventory requiring repair or replacement as needed
- Maintain orderly and easily accessible storage areas for the youth programs
- Communicate with supervisor on a weekly basis.
- Other duties as they assist in our commitment to quality service to our youth.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Leadership Certification, or equivalent experience
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Maintain a Criminal Record Check which includes a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Provide and maintain an up-to-date clear Child Abuse Registry Check
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay: $15.20 per hour
