**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Back Hoe Operators is responsible for operating trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, asphalt, and other materials and/or equipment to various job site locations. Will also work in the yard area to stockpile and move materials as needed. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks. Work will be performed per the supervisor's instruction, free from direct supervision except for more complicated jobs.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Operates trucks safely and professionally on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials.
- Performs daily pre/post-trip inspections with appropriate documentation
- Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation.
- Transport various materials and load/unload materials safely using the skid steer
- Load and unload equipment or materials.
- Monitor various gauges during the operation of the vehicle.
- Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
- Maintain and clean equipment daily
- Unrolls truck tarp to cover loads when required.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
- Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
- May be required to perform physical labour
- Other duties as assigned.
- Thorough operational knowledge and skills of trucks and related equipment to be operated.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
- Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations to keep time and material records, and read blueprints or other project documents.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as be able to work independently with attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate heavy and complex equipment requiring skill and the exercise of independent judgment.
- Must be familiar with securing heavy equipment and other over-dimensional loads.
- Ability to professionally interact with customers, collect payments and assist with issues that may arise.
- Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment
- Two years of related experience
- Clean Driving Record
- Class 3 driver license is an asset
- Must be always safety conscientious
- High Rail Aspect for on Track
- Rules (CROR) Card
