**Accountabilities**:

- Plan and instruct seasonal training for all staff in the Grooming department and identify ongoing training needs as required
- Ensure clear communication of departmental and company goals, timelines, and objectives for team effectiveness
- Meet daily with the team at the start and end of shifts to plan each day, review the work list, identify priorities, and delegate tasks to the lead hands and crew; debriefing in the morning with the night crew finishing a shift
- Provide ongoing feedback to the team and daily progress tracking of work using SnowSat to track trends and equipment issues and encourage collective remediation where needed
- Monitor work being done to ensure that all WorkSafe regulations and SOGs are followed daily and ensure that the crew is aware of safety concerns in and around their work area
- Document and communicate problems, issues or “near misses” with your manager as soon as possible
- Assist in investigations with OH&S representative when necessary
- Lead and document safety meetings and review equipment needs, special instructions, mountain information updates, weather, concerns, successes, etc., setting daily completion goals
- Ensure that equipment inventories are maintained, and tools are available when needed
- Role model a respectful workplace relating to team members and company equipment
- Ensure that staff has signed in and out of the Payworks System daily and monitor and manage payroll weekly
- Arrive at work on time and completely prepared for working outside in all conditions (proper footwear, clothing, food/water, rain gear, PPE, and well-rested)
- Other jobs as assigned by the Slopes Manager
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience within the ski industry
- Intimate knowledge of Sun Peaks trail systems and physical plant
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including comprehensive familiarity with the operation of all Pisten Bully grooming equipment and accessories
- Expertise with winch operations (minimum 5 years experience) and early winter trail preparation
- Working knowledge of snowmaking systems
- Demonstrated ability to make recommendations for annual budgets and to manage within them
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Strong administrative skills, including, but not limited to, team schedules and concise and accurate daily report logs. A team player, self-motivated, with proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate others
- An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to think, respond and communicate under pressure
- Strong skier/snowboarder; able to navigate all-terrain aspects safely and competently on the mountain
- Able to work outdoors in all weather extremes and physically capable of hard manual labour.
- Valid BC driver’s license with abstract submitted annually
- Proven Guest Services skills
- Knowledge of current OH&S and Work Safe policies. (New and Young Workers) as it relates to this department, as well as WHMIS, EMS
- Must have a keen eye for close detail while still dealing with a more extensive scope
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends and holidays) as required by Winter operating hours and special events
- Supply own CSA approved above ankle footwear, sunscreen and appropriate clothing
