**Department Description**:
Speech Language Pathology

Speech language pathologists in this setting work to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders related to various etiologies. This role will provide consultation to other health professionals and community agencies as part of an interdisciplinary health team. Research, teaching and student supervision are additional responsibilities in fulfilling our academic mission.

Temporary Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $44.33 per hour - $55.41 per hour

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week

**Qualifications**:

- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
- Demonstrated proficient understanding of the role of a Speech-Language Pathologist in an acute care academic setting
- Demonstrated basic understanding of various medical conditions and their impact on swallowing and communication
- Demonstrated advanced level of diagnostic testing experience and ability to interpret results
- Demonstrated basic level of understanding of and ability to use videofluoroscopic studies
- Demonstrated proficient level of ability to provide education and support regarding speech-language pathology
- Demonstrated advanced level of interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated advanced level of critical thinking skills, problem solving and decision making
- Demonstrated high degree of flexibility and adaptability to change
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Vision, Purpose and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
