**General Summary**:
Under the direction of the Assistant Supervisor of Maintenance, or designate, the Asbestos/Drywaller performs a variety of duties related to the control, identification, removal and containment of asbestos; ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner, complying with Board and legislative standards and codes; ensuring Board vehicles, equipment and tools are properly maintained; performing other related duties to ensure that properties, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained.

**Required Qualifications**:
Knowledge of and continual upgrading of relevant codes and legislation (Acts and Regulations), new materials, equipment, products, methods and procedures. Interpersonal, communication and listening skills required to liaise with co-workers, principals and other Board personnel on identification of asbestos and the repair of wall/ceiling surfaces or installation of access doors. Initiative and judgment required to conduct inspections and make decisions regarding the removal and/or containment of asbestos found in Board sites, repair of wall surfaces such as drywall, plaster lathe, insulation of pipes and duct work. Organization skills to prioritize work orders/requests and to reschedule activities in order to deal with on-call emergencies. Ability to report code violations, complete forms such daily logs and work order sheets, and calculate material costing. Ability to use a variety of tools such as reciprocating and drywall saws, drill, putty knives, tin snips and trowel, hydraulic personnel lifting devices. Ability to use electronic mail system and computer maintenance management system and to work with minimum supervision.

This knowledge would normally be obtained through completion of secondary school diploma, an Ontario Journeyman Trades Certificate as Drywall Finisher and Plasterer, Asbestos Abatement Worker Training Program (253W) or equivalent, and 5 years experience in the installation and repair of ceilings and wall surfaces and identification, control and containment of mould and fungi, which includes 3 years in industrial or commercial maintenance. Valid Class 'G' driver's license, or equivalent. The incumbent must keep all licenses current and take approved training courses as required. An Ontario Certificate of Qualifications as a Painter/Decorator would be an asset.
