Our Infant, Toddler and Preschool Programs is designed to help prepare students and families for the transitions they will face and guide them in setting a foundation for learning. Socially, the program aims to help students gain a sense of daily routines, adjust to interacting in a group setting, and develop their independence and self-help skills. Cognitively, children are provided with an environment that mirrors a play
- and inquiry-based setting including: language/listening, sensory, art, cognitive, science, dramatic/block and gross motor activities. By supporting our students through open-ended activities, we are able to cater to the individual needs of each child ensuring that our students are prepared for the interdisciplinary explorations that lay ahead.

**The Role**

To facilitate the development of the Program, you are expected to dedicate program time each week where you can connect with your classroom co-teachers and assist them with the success of high-quality daily program delivery. As an ECA, you will attend a minimum of 1 monthly paid professional development staff meeting a year, although Maplewood Academy will support our educators who wish to further advance their learning by attending additional workshops, seminars and webinars during work hours.

**What You'll Do**
- Ensure that all actions and activities meet the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) regulations and Raising the Bar in Peel for Quality Improvement.
- Collaborate with co-teachers on planning and implementing programs that are engaging, stimulating and appropriate for the age group. The program must follow the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) framework and be based on the interests of the students. The program will be developed using the Emergent Curriculum Approach and meet the physical, cognitive, intellectual, social and emotional needs of the students.
- Create and maintain a learning environment where materials are purposeful and inspiring to students and free of clutter.
- Document students' activities and daily observations into their HiMama account on the classroom tablet.
- Assist and collaborate with co-teachers to implement the Program and routine of the classroom. Responsible for ensuring all requirements outlined in the Daily Schedule, Weekly Program Plans and Monthly Calendars are being followed.
- Ensure availability for consultation with parents regarding students' day or development at drop off beginning or pick up times.
- Advise the Site Supervisor of pertinent information concerning students and their families.
- Advocate for the policies, procedures and philosophy of Maplewood Academy and support our mission, vision and values.
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment that meets the requirements set forth by Children's Services, Ministry of Education and Maplewood Academy.
- Assist students in washroom routines, dressing and meal/snack activities.
- Follow all health guidelines specified by Public Health.
- Model positive adult/child relationships.

**What You'll Need**
- A Diploma, certificate or 3 years of experience working in a licensed childcare setting or taking care of children of different age groups. Preference will be given to applicants with dedication and experience.
- Experience working with special needs children in a classroom setting is considered an asset.
- Fully immunized Up to Date with a Health Canada-recognized COVID-19 vaccine
- Excellent English language communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on team building and demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
- Current and clear Vulnerable Sector Check, or willing to receive one.
- Standard First Aid/CPR C certification.
- Available Monday-Friday between 7:30 am-6:00 pm
- Able to legally work in Canada.
