ESG is looking for a DevOps Specialist who focuses on the Development and Security Operations for the companies cloud based products. The Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and development of infrastructure and tools for the purposes of providing smooth delivery of cloud-based software to the clients, monitoring for software problems and monitoring for security problems during software deployment and operations. This function spans both the IT and software groups. As a junior role, the employee works with new and established technologies as part of an Agile group of developers. They assist in the development and deployment of customer-facing web tools using modern and evolving web technologies. They also work with internal customers to support users of the systems. This position requires an individual who is diligent and motivated to grow into an independent, self-supporting developer.

**Essential Duties**
- Maintaining infrastructure and deployment of existing web-based products.
- Ensuring secure web portal implementation and usage.
- Connecting interfaces with back-end systems (REST APIs and database systems) to pull data and store inputs.
- Supporting work on back-end servers. At ESG we are currently using Tomcat and Node.js.
- Consult with internal customers to determine use cases and suggest solutions.
- Work with the team to find and suggest infrastructure improvements and optimizations.
- Setting up and using automated tests.
- Complete all administrative duties relevant to the role, including but not limited to completing accurate and timely time sheets and expense forms when relevant and required by the Company.

**Requirements**:
University degree in Engineering, Computing, Physics, or Applied Math or equivalent on the job experience
- Familiarity with modern web servers (e.g., Apache Tomcat, IIS, NGINX, etc.)
- A strong grasp of IT security best practices including experience working with modern authorization/authentication systems.
- Experience with using CI/CD systems and tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) in containerized environments (e.g., Docker)
- Familiarity with cloud systems; experience with AWS is an asset
- Knowledge of how to interface with modern database systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CassandraDB, etc.)
- Familiarity with modern back-end languages and platforms (e.g., Java, PHP, Node.js, Express, etc.)
- Familiarity with administration of Linux systems is an asset
- Ability to contribute in a team environment
- Experience working in a team of developers
- Familiarity with source control management tools (e.g., Git, Microsoft TFS, Subversion, etc.)
- Familiarity with modern development tools and environments (Visual Studio, Eclipse, etc.)
- Familiarity with the development and maintenance of unit tests.
