Psychology Department - Neuropsychology - Epilepsy Program
The Epilepsy Program is dedicated to the management of epilepsy, particularly epilepsy surgery. Devoted primarily to investigation of patients for possible epilepsy surgery, the Epilepsy Unit is also used to aid diagnosis of epilepsy and other related conditions, and to evaluate patients for other types of treatment, including trials of antiepileptic medications.
Reporting to the Manager, Psychology, the Psychometrist administers psychological tests, under the supervision of a Clinical Neurosychologist, for adult and older adolescent patients with intractable epilepsy. The goals of a pre-surgical neuropsychological assessment typically include the identification of potential areas of cerebral dysfunction, assessment of hemispheric dominance for language, and communication to the team and the patient the results of the neuropsychological assessment including potential cognitive risks of a proposed resection.
Regular Full-Time
Rate of Pay: $29.35 per hour - $36.68 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
**Qualifications**:
- Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related discipline
- Minimum one year recent, related clinical experience preferred
- Successful completion of courses related to Psychological Assessment and Brain/Behaviour Relations
- Proficient skill with Microsoft Excel and SPSS
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently administer and accurately score cognitive and neuropsychological tests with timely delivery of patient data and summary sheets to supervising psychologist
- Ability to adhere to the principles of ethical and professional conduct for Psychology patients
- Demonstrated commitment to the employee performance development competencies
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
