Shunt Driver

We have a current opening at our Ajax plant for an experienced Shunt Driver with a valid AZ license and forklift license. The primary shift is afternoons ( 3 to 11 pm) but there may be occasions where work on other shifts may be required.
**Employees in this position may be engaged in a variety of Material Handling activities to support the successful operation of the Ajax Operations. Additional activities include, but are not limited to, cleaning, sorting, grinding, physical inventory and cycle counts, shipping/receiving and other manual labor activities.**
**Principle Responsibilities**:
1. Safely and efficiently operate Shunt Truck - Must be able to drive Standard
2. Safely and efficiently operate the Fork Lift and all auxiliary equipment to provide the right materials/services at the right location at the right time.
3. Organize trailers/Yard
4. Stage required inbound, work in process, or outbound material as directed.
5. Maintain related quality and production records.
6. Achieve planned work by collaborating with internal customers and proactively raising any potential risks along with proposed solutions to achieve the plan.
7. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by ensuring work areas are clean and organized and everything is in its prescribed location.
8. Protect and preserve capital assets by completing prescribed Pre-use Inspections and Preventative Maintenance.
9. Accountable and Responsible for operational and functional requirements of safety and quality as it relates to material handling.
10. Represent Plasti-Fab in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with internal & external customers.
11. Provide all co-workers with an equitable, tolerant, and positive environment where people are respected and treated with dignity, where work is shared, issues are openly and calmly communicated, and ideas are fostered.
**Functional Responsibilities**:
1. Follow all company policies and procedures.
2. Adhere to all safety requirements and regulations.
3. Ensure safe equipment operation and report any equipment deficiencies.
4. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
5. Ensure your work area is clean and free from debris and hazards.
6. Complete and record quality checks as required.
7. Communicate all quality and production issues to the Production Supervisor.
8. Complete all required paperwork legibly and accurately.
9. Carry out the physical demands of the job and meet production targets.
10. Basic Computer Skills.
11. Good communication skills.
**Working conditions**:
1. Must be physically fit, have full range of motion to perform work, including sitting and standing for long periods. There will be a frequent need to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
2. On-site work area - inside and outside, working in heat, cold, wetness, wind, dust, rain, snow, and noise.
3. Shift work, Overtime Work and weekend work will be required.
**Functional Qualifications**:
The following are the anticipated technical and functional qualifications, with the appropriate combination of experience and education being taken into consideration;
- Must be able to shunt trailers from the yard to the loading dock during the day/night
- Valid AZ Driver’s License - drivers abstract required
- Must be able to drive standard
- Valid Forklift Certificate
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team,
- Must be able to take and follow directions,
- Ability to read measurements in both Metric and Imperial systems,
- Ability to record data legibly and accurately as needed.
- Able to complete accurate paperwork.
- WHIMIS training
- SDS training
- Transportation of Hazardous Goods
- Ability to complete Customs Paperwork
