**Job Summary**

This position has the primary responsibility to manage marketing and communications for Capstone Engineering Academy. The primary role is to promote the school and our programs. The marketing and communications manager must be able ability to manage strategic planning, marketing and advertising, external communications, media relations, social media, stakeholder relations and event management.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Works as a valuable member of the marketing and communication team to prioritize, plan, develop, implement and evaluate the marketing and communication strategies, budgets and tactics in support of the organization’s marketing plan.
- Manages media relations including building relationships with local, national and international media, developing media plans and key messages, managing inbound and outbound media tours, coaching and preparing key spokespeople for interviews, hosting press conferences, facilitating media interviews, composing and pitching advisories, news releases, opinion-editorials and commentaries.
- Writes content for both internal and external communications tools including articles, blogs, speech writing, collateral and advertising, website content, corporate presentations, annual reports and success stories.
- Acts as a spokesperson for the school on specific media and social media campaigns, and events, as an emcee at events and as a host for engineering fairs.
- Manages the creation of marketing and advertising materials.
- Creates and manages event planning and implementation process for key signature events and other sector events including managing budgets, venue, and stakeholders/vendor relations, creating event collateral, advertising, media and social media.

**Qualifications**

**Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or Journalism.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of **3** years of experience in a directly related area during which professional capability has been clearly demonstrated.
- Experience working with business stakeholders, sponsors and educational institutes.
- Experience writing for a variety of documents such as articles, news releases, presentations and speeches.
- Experience dealing with creative and digital agencies, the media, social media, event planning and overall communication and marketing.

**Key Competencies**:

- Strategic approach, critical thinking and strong problem solving skills to arrive at creative and innovative marketing and communications solutions.
- Detail focused and strong project, event and budget management skills.
- Sound relationship building skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with peers, other departments, and stakeholder groups.
- Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience managing media relations.
- Knowledgeable social media skills.
- Extensive understanding of marketing and communications principles.
- Presentation development skills to create and deliver concise messages.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven abilities with Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, and Dreamweaver. Experience using systems like WordPress or Drupal, an asset.
