Fire Systems Specialist

**What will you be doing**
- Coordinating of lifecycle management activities related to fire protection systems.
- Preparing maintenance plans and procedures specific to various site services as well as buildings.
- Ensuring proper procedures and checklists are in the work management system for upgraded site service systems for PM activities.
- Developing internal client requirements documents for Fire systems.
- Reviewing, revising and managing of system/program documentation
- Organizing drawings for existing services to manage configuration.
- Developing standards and specifications (including maintaining building standards document) to which the facilities will be designed and maintained.
- Supporting system owner in the development of Preventive Maintenance programs for critical equipment and assets.
- Liaising with Fire Protection Program staff, building occupants, managers, tradespeople, contractors, consultants, regulators, peers, project staff and others in the project review process to ensure that Landlord requirements are met.
- Acting as a technical consultant to internal/external customers.
- Managing various contractors performing installation and inspection, testing and maintenance activities on fire protection systems
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.

**What we are looking for**:

- Ability to work under pressure and conflicting priorities.
- Willingness to work off hours, if required, during system failures (e.g., sprinkler and fire alarms) and other site emergency situations.
- Good oral communication and writing skills, including presentations to groups of people on changes to or installations of new fire systems and communicating the Canadian National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, Regulatory requirements, Canadian National Fire Code standards and National Fire Protection Association codes to trades so they can carry out their tasks.
Ability to support and fulfil an on-call roll on a rotational basis, sometimes requiring attendance to the work site during the off-shift.
- Thorough understanding of the Canadian National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, Regulatory Requirements, Canadian National Fire Code standards and National Fire Protection Association codes, CNL processes (e.g., Engineering Change Control) and safety requirements that are unique to a nuclear environment.
- Computer skills, including a good working knowledge of MS Office Products and other specific programs.
- General understanding of the Canadian National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and Regulatory Requirements such as Canadian National Fire Code standards and National Fire Protection Association codes.
- Education
- A degree or college diploma in Fire Protection Technologies or related studies
- 3-5 years of related experience as a Fire Systems role.
- Computer skills, including a good working knowledge of MS Office Products and other specific programs.
- Security clearance eligibility required: Level 2 Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security”.

**Working Conditions**:

- Ability to stand and walk for long portions of a workday.
- Work may be required to be performed in various types of weather year-round and during the night for urgent repairs/troubleshooting.
