**EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: 12-MONTH CONTRACT**

**URBAN FORESTRY COORDINATOR (NON-UNION)**
- related issues, as well as updating current standards, specifications, and work procedures all the while defining the vision for a greener environment.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Performing tree inspections, prioritizing forestry work orders, coordinating tree maintenance contractors and in-house forestry crews as required, ensuring high quality work performance, safe work practices and professional customer service response.
- Implement knowledge-building training and outreach activities and steps towards effective forest management and tree planting in Gananoque throughout 2023 to 2024.
- Create a comprehensive and complete inventory of trees in Gananoque (municipal and residential), track and monitor the history, status and health of trees, identify industry-leading best practices, present a well-rounded forestry management and action plan (2024-2034) for growth and expansion in Gananoque and implement a kick-start tree-planting project within the Town of Gananoque.
- Engage the community in capacity building activities by inviting residents to participate in outreach, skills training and tree planting initiatives, starting in their own backyards.
- Host round table discussions with the First Peoples of the Thousand Islands to include their perspectives.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES**:

- Post-secondary diploma in environmental sciences, urban forestry, environmental studies, arboriculture or ecology related program.
- Work experience in the care of the urban forest; performing tree inspections, working as part of a crew and coordinating tree maintenance operations.
- ISA Arborist Certification. (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience providing forestry related technical consultation and development review; preparing/reviewing vegetation management plans, tree planting plans, arborist reports.
- Proficiency preparing contract specification documents, overseeing work completion and procurement processes.
- Strong knowledge of arboricultural best management practices and related legislation.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid "G" Ontario driver's licence in good standing is required.

The starting wage is $24.63/hr based on a 35-hour workweek.

Moving/travel expenses may be considered.
