Security Guard

**Ivaco Rolling Mills**, a major steel manufacturer in the Eastern Ontario region (L’Orignal, ON), is seeking a motivated **Security Guard** to fill vacancies in its Health and Safety department.

**Job Requirements**
- Security License
- Driver License (G Class)
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Extensive knowledge of security protocols and emergency preparedness
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

**Primary Function**

To supervise and keep employees, contractors, visitors, and other valuable assets safe and secure.

**Responsibilities**
- Ensures safe work practices and procedures.
- Oversees all entries and exits from Company property as per Company policy, i.e., register visitors and suppliers, issuing passes, keeping written records of all incoming and outgoing IRM materials and supplies.
- Undertakes vehicle and foot patrol inspections of all buildings and grounds and advising Company personnel of any unusual situations as appropriate.
- Produces regular summary reports regarding service vehicle scrap and wire trucks, accidents, hospital visits, absenteeism, lateness.
- Maintains logbooks on keys, bag house smoke, after-hours store usage, fuel, and dust.
- Performs first-aid duties including: respond to and investigate all accidents; providing first aid as required; transport injured employees to hospitals; call an ambulance; advise appropriate departments.
- Maintains after-hour telephone and paging systems.
- Distributes punch cards and inter-company mail.
- Participates, as required, in plant visits.
- Assists, when required, in calling labour pool personnel to report to work.
- Performs other duties assigned.
- Obverses all safety rules.

**Conditions**

Schedule:

- 36-48 hours/week
- 12 hours rotating shift (night/day/weekend)

**Salary**:

- $20.00/hour
- + $2.00/hour premium (night/weekend shift)
