**Role and Facility Information**:
Program Description:
The BC Psychosis Program provides leading-edge, patient-focused care for people with refractory psychosis and their families. It offers excellence in multidisciplinary assessment and treatment based on the best available evidence and tailored to each person’s individual needs. The program serves as a resource to Health Authorities across BC by providing unique, highly specialized services to patients that require pharmacological, biophysical, and psychosocial treatment for their illness because second line treatment approaches have been either ineffective or only partially effective.
The 25-bed inpatient unit established in the Detwiller Pavilion, UBC Hospital has a provincial mandate. The clinical program models are strength-based and aim to support individuals in their unique process of recovery by offering a range of evidence-based clinical services including psychotherapeutic and psychosocial interventions, integrated approaches to physical health & wellness, and peer-based programming.
Clinical staff are experts in their field who integrate clinical research and teaching on psychotic disorders into their practice.
BCPP Family Physician Expectations:

- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in planning care for patients admitted to the BC Psychosis Program
- Work with the most responsible physician (MRP), a psychiatrist, to identify and manage medical issues
- Perform a complete medical history and physical examination on each patient within two weeks of admission
- Follow-up on referrals, laboratory work and imaging studies, and liaise with consultant specialists as needed
- Present medical history and findings at a weekly diagnostic case conference with the multidisciplinary team
- A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 half-days of work (4-5 sessions) per week
- On-call duties with the tertiary mental health GP group

Compensation:
The physician will receive compensation at the APP sessional rate.
Qualifications:

- A Medical Degree and current or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Current or eligibility for a clinical faculty appointment with the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
- Experience as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Experience working with patients who have psychosocial complexity, mental and/or addictive disorders

Reporting Relationship:
The physician will report to the Head and Medical Director, Department of Psychiatry, Vancouver Acute through the Clinical Director, BC Psychosis Program, and be a member of the Vancouver General Hospital Department of Family and Community Practice.
