Accounting Manager

Job Summary:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with preparing and reviewing various internal and external reports and reconciliations.
- Identify and analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial results, providing explanations and recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and perform monthly reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, accounts receivable adjustments, and submit monthly tax reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Preparation of reports and statements as required for financing, bonding and various external users.
- Coordinate and provide support during financial audits, responding to audit inquiries and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Prepare year-end audit working paper files with supporting schedules to facilitate the auditing process.
- Ensure that financial information and reports are accurate and timely, and deadlines are met.
- Reconciliation and understanding of all general ledger accounts, produce financial statements, monthly packages and supplementary reporting for various properties and construction projects.
- Monitor cash flows and anticipate future cash deficiencies.
- Work proactively with the operations, leasing, and construction groups in order to produce comprehensive quality monthly reports and provide guidance on proper accounting treatment.
- Full understanding of all real estate and construction industry specific processes and upkeep of pertinent information relating to specific properties.
- Special projects and other duties, as assigned by the Director of Finance.
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Completion of or working towards a CPA designation.
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience in real estate and construction.
- Strong understanding of GST, real property and construction rules.
- Proven financial analytical skills.
- Excellent knowledge and experience related to technology and accounting systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Sage Intacct would be an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities within structured deadlines and deliverables.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality documentation and deliverables.
- Self-motivated and proactive in staying up to date with technology trends and advancements.
- Must be inclusive and supportive of the diversity within the Leston team.
**Salary**: $77,000.00-$83,000.00 per year
