**Respite Support Aide (RSA)**

At Bright Star Respite, we believe that respite care is an essential part of the overall support to families. Our Respite Support Aide will provide care and supervision according to the individual child’s needs. As a Respite Aide you will provide support in activities of daily living such as feeding; toileting and dressing; as well as providing learning opportunities and behavioral support that includes the child’s participation in events and activities. Respite Aides are able to provide a calm and secure environment either in the home or in the community.

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- Ability to provide care and supervision according to the Care Plan which meets the individual child’s needs at a private home and within the community
- Ability to provide support with activities of daily living such as toileting, diapering, dressing and feeding children of all ages.
- Ability to provide learning opportunities and behavioral support.
- Applicants will be flexible and responsive and should have experience working with or caring for children.
- Experience with behavior management strategies and experience working with disabilities/ special needs is a definite asset.
- Applicants must have a criminal record check with the vulnerable sector, a child intervention check and First Aid & Level-C CPR.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Applicants must be available for days and evening shifts, & weekends as well as some holidays.

**Job Types**: Full time, Part-time, Casual (Casual hours vary per week min 6 hours, max 30 hours)

**Salary**: $18.00 to $22 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Weekend availability

Work Location: In person

**What you will bring to the role**:

- Diploma in Community Support Worker, Health Care Aides Child and Youth Care or Social

Work with related experience
- Certificate in Human Services
- Experience working with families from diverse cultures
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with people affected by trauma

**Background Check Process and Requirements**:

- Police Information Check
- Vulnerable Sector (completed within the last 6 months)
- Child Intervention Records Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- Valid driver’s license - Class 5
- 3 year Driver Abstract
- Standard First Aid Level C CPR within 3 months of start date.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Casual

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
