**Position Working Title(s)**: Child and Youth Care Practitioner - Part-Time

**Home Location**: Lynwood Hall, Upper Paradise

**Probation**:1040 hours worked probationary period

**Reports to**:Residential Program Manager

**Standard Hours**: Up to 24 hours per week, as per schedule

**Function**:to assume responsibility for the provision of day-to-day care and utilizing best practice and following the evidence informed treatment plan for the child/youth to be supported. The Developmental Child and Youth Care Practitioner will develop an effective relationship with the Child/youth, caregivers/guardians and service providers in the community.

**Work Environments**:Residential home, Community settings, Day treatment classroom, school based settings,family homes, agency vehicle

**Driving Requirements**:F class license

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
- Providing a safe, predictable, and therapeutic environment for the children and youth in the residential program
- Ensuring the basic needs of the children and youth in the residential program are met
- Planning, developing and implementing individual therapeutic programming
- Maintain clinical records and reports according to agency and program policy and procedures
- Handle, dispense and administer medication according to agency and program policy and procedures
- Attend to facility safety and security, cleanliness as per relevant policy and procedure
- Adhere to all expectations as outlined in the Ministry of Children and Youth services ( MCYS) children residence licensing requirements and agency policy and procedure
- Maintain regular contact with caregivers/guardians to share pertinent information and treatment updates
- Contribute to the overall case planning as generated by the child/youth, family, school board collaterals and the interdisciplinary team.
- Support and provide advocacy for the child/youth and family
- Attend and participate in team meetings as required
- Contribute to effective team development and processes to promote team cohesion and communication
- Participate in all mandatory agency and relevant program training and in-service processes.
- Assume responsibility for their own professional development, including keeping up to date with new developments in the field and acquiring new skillsto best serve the children/youth and families within the Program.

**Experience Required**
- Experience working with children and youth in a treatment setting

**Knowledge Required**
- Knowledge of child and youth mental health and developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of residential best practices

**Education and Training Qualification(s)**
- Diploma in CYC, Developmental Service Worker or Equivalent completed or in progress with commitment for completion, and/or educational equivalent from recognized community college or a BA in a related field
- Certification in SMG’s Crisis Intervention Training
- First Aid

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 20 months
Part-time hours: 24 per week

**Salary**: $21.23 per hour
