**HSE Specialist**

Cornaglia Canada - Abcor Filters Inc. based in Toronto Canada, is a subsidiary of Cornaglia Group Italy.

Cornaglia Canada - Abcor Filters in recruiting an HSE Specialist for the facility located in Toronto Ontario.

The Cornaglia Group develops leading edge technological solutions for the automotive world, supplying to the most prestigious clients on the North American market.

**THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The HSE Specilist is responsible to provide the leadership and resources necessary for the implementation and maintenance of the environment and health and safety management system which is in line with Environment and H&S standards and legal regulatory requirements.. Also, this role contributes to a human work environment where fairness, equality and non-discriminatory practices are the standard.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:

- Writes and maintains generic procedures for health & safety management system.
- Assists in the development and implementation of site-specific H&S goals and targets.
- Develops and delivers various H&S training as required.
- Assists site managers in completing periodic hazard and risk assessments.
- Develops and maintains a list of applicable legal and other requirements for health & safety and communicates any changes to plants to ensure legislative compliance, on a timely basis.
- Conducts health & safety compliance & H&S system audits
- Identifies processes that demonstrate health/safety risk and assists in the development of operational controls to minimize risks.
- Analyzes health & safety data for trends and assist sites with corrective action plans.
- Performs accident investigations.
- Ability to motivate a change into a safety-first H&S culture.
- Provides assistance with external regulatory visits and findings i.e., OSHA, fire dept., EPA, etc. - access, gate keeping.
- Conducts site Safety inspections.
- Keeps the site senior Manager updated on activities.
- Performs other duties assigned by manager and/or initiatives directed by Corporate H&S Health and Safety Manager.
- Complete regular training sessions on plant safety needs

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE**:
**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in occupational H&S studies.
- Minimum 2-5 years experience in a health & safety leadership role in a manufacturing industry or similar.
- Familiar with OHSAS 18001 or other H&S auditing experience asset.
- Conduct ISO 14001 EMS audits and ISO 45001 audits
- Knowledge of Ontario Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of Employment Standards Act
- Time management skills
- Experience in health and safety training and program development.
- Knowledgeable on risk assessment processes
- Perform hazard & risk assessments and develop control measures.
- Ability motivate change in H&S culture.
- Accident investigation
- Workplace inspections
- Experience with WSIB
