In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $72,790 to $121,318.

University of Alberta Protective Services (UAPS) is a community peace officer agency. UAPS provides a number of services to the University of Alberta, including: General Patrol and Incident Response, Complaint Investigation, Accident Response, Traffic Safety Enforcement, Public Education Services, Community Assistance Team (CAT), Alarm Response, Special Duty Services, Community Liaison Officer Program, Controlled Goods Program, Security Survey (CPTED Audits), and Victim Support.

**Positio**n**

Reporting to the Director, UAPS, the Threat Assessment Program Manager will play a pivotal role In the University of Alberta Protective Services' (UAPS) ability to assess and respond to potential threats and vulnerabilities to students, faculty, staff, visitors, assets and infrastructure; through the Identification, assessment, investigation and creation of risk mitigation plans for threats of disruption or harm.

Working In collaboration with other departments and University stakeholders, this role is responsible for the overall effective management of threats against the University Community.

The key purpose of this position is to use established methodologies and effective research techniques to identify, investigate, assess and mitigate/manage any ongoing risk associated with threats to the University Community.

Considered the University expert, the Threat Assessment Program Manager will be required to present and engage with senior University executives, identify and provide ongoing training and awareness in issues related to threat assessment and risk management, organizational security, and Student Code of Conduct matters.

**Duties**
- Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks, develop incident response plans, and maintain a proactive security posture.
- Identifies known and demonstrated behaviour of an individual.
- Organizes relevant risk enhancing and/or risk reducing factors identified through investigation and research using standardized tools.
- Responsible for overseeing the investigation of ongoing and complicated matters that require specialized skills and dedicated resources.
- Develops and/or delivers training, lectures, presentations and public information sessions to various university stakeholders.
- Participates in both Protocol 91 and Student of Concern meetings, arranged through the office of the Dean of Students.
- Conducts ongoing research and participates in professional development.
- Responsible for leading the development of policies, procedures, protocols and resources related to violence prevention, threat assessment and management that align with research, best practices, and standards for the field of threat assessment.
- Ensures systems are established to adequately implement security measures for identified and assessed threats.
- Provides oversight of the monitoring and tracing of cases to track progress, ensure compliance with recommendations and on-going assessment, and address new or emerging concerns as they arise.
- Develops a platform to distribute the sharing of escalated risks and/or concerns through established reporting mechanisms, including technology requirements and associated processes.
