Family Support Provider

**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, the Family Support Provider is responsible for supporting families in navigating the local, provincial and federal systems, accessing child and youth mental health services as well as community supports, collaborating with service providers both internal and external to Kinark to increase family capacity (e.g., how to speak to service providers, skills in advocacy, resilience) and encourage service providers to work in partnership with families to achieve the best outcome for their children, youth and families. The Family Support Provider is responsible for co-developing, with the families, a Family Support Plan that identifies family needs and establishes goals for families to plan to meet.
Our standard terms and conditions of employment include a work arrangement of being in the office 5 days a week. Kinark has recently introduced a new benefit that gives employees the opportunity to work their role in a hybrid or fully remote arrangement, as assessed for their position, for those who wish to opt-in for this benefit. The role of Family Support Provider has been positionally assessed in the ‘Roamer’ classification, defined as a minimum of 2 days in office per week.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Assists families in identifying their needs both as a family and as individuals in all aspects of life by establishing goals reflected in a family support plan. This can include financial, medical, social, health, recreational, housing, respite, youth justice and education. Advocate for/ with families with internal and external service providers.
- Use defined tools (i.e. ECO map) to identify existing services and supports to ensure the right services and supports are in place. Identify service gaps, support families in accessing appropriate services/supports.
- Document and report all contact with families, community service providers, update family support plans and progress reports.
**Qualifications**:
- Must have experience in the child and youth services system as a family member of a child/youth who has received services (i.e. mental health, child welfare or youth justice) and lived experience as the primary caregiver of a child or youth with emotional or behavioural challenges.
- Required completion of High school Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent only.
- Intermediate computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, etc.).
**Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination.** Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine and 14 days have passed since last dose. Proof of vaccination for each vaccine dose received is required.
