Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of the Fifth Class Power Engineer Preparation course is an asset, or willingness to obtain.
- 2 years of building repair / maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and supervise custodial and cleaning staff.
- Ability to perform building related repairs.
- Highly motivated and able to work with mínimal supervision using excellent time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with staff, students, & public.
- General working knowledge of modern HVAC equipment and building equipment / systems.
- Knowledge and experience working with modern cleaning procedures.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to carry out the duties of the position.
- WHMIS training/certification is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health regulations is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Drivers licence and access to a vehicle.
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform routine building maintenance e.g. minor repairs on windows, doors, desks, tables, equipment, sinks, toilets, blinds etc.
- Perform regular maintenance on HVAC related equipment; sewer system.
- Supervise work of cleaning staff, prepare reports/provide information to school principal or board office.
- School checks during heating season.
- Maintain outside grounds e.g. cleaning snow, maintain gardens, clean debris from sidewalk and playground/fields.
- Organize and perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
- Determine needed supplies and maintain proper inventory of materials and supplies.
- Organize equipment maintenance and repair.
- Secure facilities, maintain and/or have working knowledge of environmental safeguards and alarm systems.
- Report to administrator on custodial performance e.g. cleaning staff, monitor work quality; train spare cleaners as needed.
- Responsible for ensuring cleaning Staff are aware of duties and procedures.
- Ability to explain procedures to regular Staff and spares if scheduled.
- Clean up and repair (within skill level) of vandalism.
- Prepare, set up, clean up of rooms or auditoriums for various activities & meetings.
- Clean light fixtures and change bulbs/tubes.
- Maintain fire alarms, extinguishers, AED.
- Weekend heat checks (November to April).
- Waste Water Treatment Plant Checks (if applicable).
- Playground checks.
- Other duties as assigned.

Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse registry Check will be required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: $25.86 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
