**POSITION TITLE**:Telecom Damage Prevention Technician (Cable Locator)

**LOCATION**:Schomberg, ON

**REPORTS TO**:Fibre Manager

**COMPANY**:Vianet

**SUMMARY**:
**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Screen incoming locate requests to determine if Vianet plant will be affected
- Locate Vianet fibre optic cables using industry standard equipment and techniques
- Prepare locate documentation including sketches with appropriate measurements
- Participate in damage investigations of both Vianet and 3rd party infrastructure.
- Complete emergency locate requests, including after hours work when required
- Ensure a safe work area including proper traffic control measures and adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the field
- While the primary task of this position is cable locating, the position will include additional telecom related work from time to time including FTTH installation, network equipment installation, fibre splicing, and other tasks as required (on the job training to be provided as required)
- Occasional after-hours work may be required including participating in an on-call rotation.

**EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED**:

- Previous experience as an outside plant telecom technician is required
- Previous experience as a damage prevention technician is highly desirable
- Valid Ontario Class G or higher drivers licence with a clean drivers abstract
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Completes work in a timely and efficient manner.
- Well organized with good time management skills.
- A positive attitude and good work ethic.

**Experience**:

- telecommunication technician: 1 year (preferred)
- damage prevention technician: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Ontario Class G drivers licence with a clean abstract (required)

Ability to Relocate:

- Schomberg, ON L0G 1T0: Relocate before starting work (required)

Willingness to travel:

- 25% (required)
