- NVDPL is looking for two Librarian 1 (Adult Services) to: design, develop & assess programs for adults; engage with community partners; coordinate Collection maintenance work; provide information services & balance patron needs in a busy public space. Positions are available at our Lynn Valley and Parkgate locations.**What we can offer you**

Aspects of the role will include:
- Designing, developing & assessing programs for adults using a needs-based model
- Building relationships with & supporting community agency partners
- Maintaining branch Collections under direction of Collection Services & Evaluation Librarian
- Providing reference and reader’s advisory services for all ages; helping patrons navigate digital resources & devices
- Balancing patrons’ needs confidently and professionally in a busy public space

**What you’ll need to succeed**
- A Masters degree in information or library science from an accredited program
- An understanding of and commitment to the principles of intellectual freedom, inclusiveness and service excellence
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- Proven ability to provide leadership and responsible oversight of services, spaces and resources
- Demonstrated competence with current library technologies and assisting patrons with accessing and navigating the digital environment
- Experience with teamwork and projects; ability to take initiative, ask for assistance, take direction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positivity and enthusiasm to serve members of the public from all walks of life
- A comfort level with uncertainty and curiosity to learn more

**It’s great if you have**
- Experience or interest in making connections with community groups & representing your organization in the community
- Experience or interest in Community Dialogue & Civic Engagement programming and/or Skill Building and Learning programming
- The hourly pay rate for this unionized position starts at $34.96 (2021 rates), based on a 35-hour workweek, plus a generous benefits package.
