Our open-pit mine and concentrator in Voisey's Bay - Vale's only fly-in/fly-out operation in Canada - produces nickel-cobalt-copper concentrate and copper concentrate. An underground expansion will see a transition to a leading edge underground mine extending the life of the mine until 2034. Our state-of the-art facility in Long Harbour is the first nickel processing plant in the world to use hydrometallurgy technology to produce Plating RoundsTM from hard rock (sulphide) concentrate, with low carbon footprint compared to traditional smelter technology. A team of employees across the province provide support to the Newfoundland and Labrador Operations.

**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking an **ENVIRONMENTAL STUDENT SPRING 2023 **to join our **Vale Newfoundland and Labrador Operations** in **Long Harbour (with potential to work from home at times)**. This is a fixed term (8 weeks or 16 weeks - depending on the program) position.

As an Environmental Student, you will have the opportunity to further your development by providing day-to-day support for various projects and initiatives within the Environment Department. You will also gain a deeper understanding of our company and our sustainable approach to mining via exposure to other Vale operations in Canada and our global headquarters in Brazil. In this position, you will:

- Implement, assess, and interpret Environmental Protection Procedures.
- Provide advice to LHPP Supervision on site environmental matters.
- Conduct environmental audits and investigations.
- Conduct environmental sampling and testing.
- Monitor projects to ensure environmental compliance.

**About You**
- Currently enrolled as a student within a related program.
- Previous work experience in an industrial setting would be an asset.
- Knowledge of environmental sampling techniques (groundwater, surface water, soil and air) would be an asset.
- Ability to work with various groups to ensure work is completed on time while mínimalizing the impact on the environment.
- Time management skills to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, safely, and efficiently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, strong proficiency in Excel an asset.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail.
