Responsible to the Coordinator, Payroll or designate, the Payroll Clerk performs payroll duties to ensure the accumulation of timely, accurate and complete financial and statistical information. This includes: processing of payroll transactions in accordance with approved policies, procedures and collective agreement provisions; preparing and reconciling payment of payroll obligations such as union dues, credit union; calculation of retroactive and other miscellaneous payments to employees; maintenance of sick and vacation banks in accordance with approved policies, procedures and collective agreement provisions. The Payroll Clerk complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Payroll experience within the last 3 years - required
Minimum of 1 year experience processing payroll transactions in a computerized environment - required;
Knowledge of Kronos and Infinium - Considered an asset
General knowledge of office procedures such as filing, use of business machines and handling telephone inquiries;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent organizational abilities and initiative-self starter;
Pleasant, courteous and professional phone manner;
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment;
**EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE**:
Minimum Grade 12 education - required
Completion of one (1) or more year(s) Community College Business Administration - Finance/Accounting/Business Program - required and demonstrated commitment to continual learning
Knowledge of processes and procedures relating to the processing of payroll transactions -**required (will be tested)**
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft Office 2010 Excel, Word - **required (basic, intermediate and advanced questions will be tested)**
Numeric Data Entry Speed 150 characters per minute and 90% accuracy - r**equired (accuracy and speed will be tested)**
Enrolment in or completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification and/or CPM designation from the Canadian Payroll Association. Considered an asset
