Polar Cutter Operator

Cutter Operators use various paper joggers to properly align and cut paper so it can be fed into other machines for cutting, binding and/or hole punching. The Operator is responsible to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Polar Cutter to produce a high-quality product to the prescribed quantity. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting basic machine performance, making adjustments and calling for additional resources as required.

**Job Requirements**:

- High School Diploma/GED/Mature Student Diploma
- Machine operation experience, basic machine troubleshooting and maintenance experience
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery, equipment, product
- Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-management capabilities
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts
- Must be willing to work at all Friesens facilities as needed

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work and communicate effectively with the managers and co-workers
- Communicate with the Production Manager about the order of jobs to be cut
- Manage stock and skids for an efficient production flow
- Identify and understand the cutting instructions before starting on a job
- Locate the material ensuring correct quantity and type
- Trim material as required by Cutting Sheet or other instructions
- Identify stock and input necessary information into the inventory management system
- Deliver and/or store paper as required
- Manage and perform cutter maintenance as described in the Cutter Maintenance Binder and the Operator’s Manual
- Practice Friesens safety procedures for equipment and plant situations

**Experience**: Preferred
- Machine operation experience, basic troubleshooting and maintenance experience
- Previous print industry experience

**Education**: Preferred
- High School Diploma or better

- Experience operating and using small tools
- Digital literacy-Microsoft office, typing
