The Sunshine Coast Natural Resource District team provides expert advice and decision support relating to multiple business areas in the district. The primary duties of the First Nations Relations Advisor are centered on conducting consultations for the use of natural resources on Crown land and determining the impact on First Nations’ identified or potential traditional use areas.

**Job Requirements**:

- Degree related to the natural resource sector (e.g., forestry, resource management, agrology, environmental science) or equivalent; an equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
- Significant experience working with First Nations communities and facilitating First Nations consultations.
- Preference may be given to those who identify as Indigenous.

Provisos:

- Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Meet safety standards of WorkSafeBC.
- May be required to operate a variety of equipment.
- Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

**About this Position**:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Powell River.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
