**Manager, Program Development**

The Program Development team is responsible for ensuring that Mitacs program design achieves the desired program outcomes and for the continual evolution and improvement of Mitacs core programs. In addition, the team works collaboratively with other functional units across Mitacs, with vendors and stakeholders, to drive program integration, reduce barriers to participation, and improve program quality.

**Responsibilities**

Lead activities in the following areas within the Program Development team:
**Program (re)design and development**:

- Lead program reviews and redesign processes to ensure the achievement of program outcomes in alignment with Canadian public policy goals
- Ensure enhancement of skills development of program participants through the incorporation of training activities and other interventions for participants within programs
- Work cross-departmentally to manage and implement medium-sized to large-scale projects that reduce variations across programs (also work with vendors/service providers)
- Work with Program Analysts and other teams to leverage data to lead continuous improvements to programs
- Work closely with other teams to transition program pilots to core programs
- Assist in the evolution of Mitacs program offerings
- Support the Director, Program Development to report progress against annual operational plans

**People management**:

- Develop and lead a distributed team of employees to meet individual professional development goals, conduct performance reviews as well as achieve department operational plan objectives
- Assign tasks and projects to leverage team expertise and support the development of resource plans to ensure the sustainability and efficacy of the team

**Other activities**:

- As needed, attend conferences and workshops to maintain best-practice knowledge in innovation program design and development and inclusive program design methods/approaches
- Occasional travel within Canada

**EXPERIENCE**:
Required qualifications include:

- At least three years of experience managing teams, ideally including distributed teams working remotely
- Demonstrated expertise in program development, design or program management experience
- Demonstrated experience managing medium-to-large-sized projects, including but not limited to initiating and implementing projects, managing vendor and stakeholder interactions, and evaluating the success of initiatives
- Extensive experience liaising with diverse stakeholder groups, including vendors, industry, and academia
- Familiarity with skills development principles
- A university degree (graduate degree strongly preferred)

Desired qualifications/knowledge include:

- Work experience within the innovation sector and familiarity with academic and government organizations is an asset
- Knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization
- PMP or other management designation is an asset
- RBM (results-based management) qualification and experience developing KPIs (key performance indicators)
- Knowledge of quality assurance principles and continuous improvement
