
Geotechnical Quality Manager

The Geotechnical Quality Manager reports to the Director, Technical Service and serves as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Geotechnical within operations. The Geotechnical Quality Manager will act as the primary lead for all Geotechnical and Lab disciplines (Static and mobile). In this role, the Geotechnical Quality Manager will establish effective project initiation and execution plans to ensure optimal delivery and performance. Highly competent in both Field and Lab best practices and the ability to lead a team is vital. The Geotechnical Quality Manager will be adept at delivering quality and steadfast in holding Field technicians and other team members accountable to Inline’s high level of operational standards. They will also maintain accountability for technical excellence, client satisfaction, and department efficiency. This position is located at our Acheson, AB office.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
**Department Leadership**
- Oversee and manage all activities of the Static Lab and Mobile Labs, ensuring high standards of quality and operational efficiency including CCIL certifications.
- Develop and implement processes to streamline operations and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Assign and coordinate Field Technicians to support geotechnical investigations and ensure proper utilization of resources.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to Junior Engineers and Field Technicians.
**Technical Oversight**
- Lead geotechnical site investigations to assess soil and rock conditions.
- Supervise fieldwork, including drilling, soil sampling, and testing, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
- Perform and oversee geotechnical analyses, including assessments of slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, and foundation design parameters.
**Client Interaction and Communication**
- Serve as the primary point of contact for geotechnical project clients, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met.
- Prepare and deliver geotechnical reports, specifications, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
- Communicate technical findings and updates effectively to clients, project teams, and stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
**Project and Quality Management**
- Monitor project schedules, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful completion of geotechnical milestones.
- Conduct quality assurance and compliance checks on geotechnical data, analysis, and reports.
- Maintain and improve standards for safety, quality, and environmental compliance within the department.
- Actively participate in the NCR process
**Qualifications**:
- 5+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, including experience managing teams or departments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering or diploma
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA
- Proven experience managing lab operations (Static and Mobile labs) and mentoring junior staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organization and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Environmental Phase 1 and Phase 2 is considered an asset.
