A Swamper plays a critical role in assisting drivers and operators in the transportation, **staging**, and delivery of goods or equipment. This position is physically demanding and requires a team-oriented individual who is punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious. The Swamper ensures efficient loading, unloading, **staging of delivery items**, and handling of materials while adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist in the secure loading and unloading of goods, equipment, or materials onto/off trucks.
- Ensure items are properly balanced and secured to avoid damage or shifting during transit.
- Organize and prepare delivery items for transport and on-site setup.
- Place items in designated staging areas for easier access during delivery or installation.
- Verify that all items match delivery requirements and documentation.
- Provide hands-on support at job sites, including clearing pathways, setting up equipment, and handling tools.
- Assist drivers/operators in navigating tight spaces or challenging environments.
- Relay information between drivers, customers, and operations staff as needed.
- Act as a spotter for drivers during backing up or maneuvering tasks.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly to the supervisor.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Notify management of any mechanical issues or damages.
**Qualifications**
- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- **Experience**: Previous experience in a similar role is an asset but not mandatory. Training will be provided.
- **Skills**:
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under mínimal supervision.
- **Certifications**: Valid driver's license (preferred). Safety certifications such as WHMIS or First Aid (an asset).
**Working Conditions**
- Work may involve early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and in physically demanding environments.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
