**Jardeg is recruiting Ironworker Journeypersons to join the Heartland Constructors Inc. team at the CNRL Albian site near Fort McMurray, Alberta for an Outage. This is an exciting fly-in, fly-out position with charter flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton. You will be working straight through, with each workday consisting of 11.5 hours (including two 30-minute breaks - one paid and one unpaid).** **As we value your dedication, any overtime worked beyond 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week will be compensated at time and a half.** **This is a temporary role commencing June 12th for about 14 days.**
Ironworkers play a vital role in the industry, where they are responsible for fabricating, constructing, and joining various structures. They bring to life scaffolding, structural steel buildings, bridges, ornamental ironwork, and pre-cast structures through their expertise. In addition to assembling steel components, they also erect structural steel, reinforce steel, and handle post-tension tendons. Ironworkers are versatile professionals who excel in installing conveyors and robotic equipment as per project requirements. Their skill set also extends to performing reconstructive work on existing structures, ensuring structural integrity and safety. With their precision, attention to detail, and commitment to safety, Ironworkers contribute significantly to the successful completion of diverse construction projects. Here are the key responsibilities for this position:
- Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work accurately, ensuring precise placement of steel components.
- Unload and stack steel units strategically for efficient hoisting and installation.
- Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks, and other hoisting equipment to support safe and effective work.
- Assemble rigging, including cables, pulleys, and hooks, to facilitate the movement of heavy equipment and materials.
- Provide guidance to crane operators using hand signals or radios for precise positioning of steel units.
- Align steel parts and insert temporary bolts to ensure accurate placement and alignment.
- Conduct inspections to verify alignments and securely join steel parts through bolting or tack welding using an electric arc process.
- Assemble and erect pre-fabricated metal structures according to specifications and project requirements.
- Select, cut, bend, position, and secure steel bars or wire mesh within concrete forms to reinforce the concrete structures effectively.
- Install various ornamental and structural metalwork, including curtain walls, metal stairways, railings, and power doors, with precision.
- Safely unload and install pre-cast components for construction projects, adhering to established safety protocols.
Your role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret blueprints accurately. You must be skilled in handling heavy equipment and materials, and your expertise in assembling and reinforcing steel structures is essential for successful construction projects. Your dedication to safety and precision ensures that steel structures are installed with the utmost quality and reliability.
**Qualifications**
- Journeyman Ironworker certification.
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Ironworker, preferably in industrial or construction settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ironworker materials, tools, and installation techniques.
- Strong commitment to safety practices and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and independently as required.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and project stakeholders.
**Minimum Requirements**
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or CSTS-09
- Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry & Monitor
- Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection
- Basic Rigging Certification
