Ÿ An aptitude/interest in Park Operations;
Ÿ General knowledge concerning safe use of landscape maintenance equipment;
Ÿ Basic knowledge of grass maintenance including mowing, aerating, seeding and sod laying;
Ÿ Basic knowledge of garden maintenance including weeding, planting and pruning;
Ÿ Basic knowledge of native and invasive plants Ÿ

Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of manual outdoor work in all types of weather;
- Ÿ An ability to build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with the public and the staff team;
Ÿ Ability to exercise excellent customer service skills when interacting with park users and the general public
- Ÿ Knowledge of, and the ability to make decisions in accordance with, departmental policies, practices, rules and regulations related to the work performed;
Ÿ Experience driving large trucks on streets and within parks in and around people; and,

Ÿ Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC.

Ÿ Experience operating tractors, ride on mowers and chainsaw considered an asset.

Position Status:
Union (WVMEA) - Replacement Temporary, Full-time

Hours of Work:
40 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Starting Rate of Pay:
$29.84 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits

This position has a pay structure with three steps increase after certain hours.

Closing Date:
11:59 p.m. March 22, 2024
