Material Handling Operator

Position Summary**:
To perform the duties as required throughout the facility in order to receive, move, pick, pack, and ship material. These duties are to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner ensuring quality of the product and packaging, production is not negatively impacted, and that the pick rates are met.

**Shift Timings
- Afternoon
- 3:30- 1:30am (Monday
- Thursday)**

2.0 Primary Responsibilities & Duties**:

- Safe operation of forklift or stacker or Crown Tugger machine and various lifting / moving equipment as required
- Ensure accurate counts through the operation of weight scales
- Operate a computer for reporting and product information collection or operate a tablet to successfully identify and complete pick tickets
- Move materials between all departments
- Load and replenish inventory into the appropriate locations as required
- Open and complete orders on scan gun, filling out production tags as required
- Perform duties associated with ship verification and Shiplinx
- Audit rows as required
- Load and offload trailers
- Verify product against packing slip / pick ticket
- Receive and deliver any courier products or chemical deliveries to the appropriate dept / person
- Identify products that need QA inspection with a HOLD tag
- Report and control / pull and scrap or defective product and inspect product / packaging for damage
- Rotation through various work cells and shifts
- Be capable of meeting physical and work environment demands
- Navigate through the warehouse picking, scanning, and packing product for each individual order using the Crown machine
- Assemble cartons for packing
- Communicate to lead hand any inventory errors
- Other duties as required

3.0 Health & Safety**:

- Maintain a safe workplace
- Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
- Comply with the company policies, procedures, and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)
- Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required
- Report unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your supervisor
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Adhere to and maintain WHMIS 2015 requirements
- Annual medical surveillance may be required

4.0 Quality**:

- Follow all area work instructions and procedures in order to ensure quality standards are adhered to
- Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept and your supervisor
- Follow the control of non-conforming product procedure for any defective products found in your area

5.0 Autonomous Maintenance**:

- Perform the forklift / stacker startup checklist

6.0 5S**:

- Adhere to 5S standards within the areas that you work in
- Place material and products in the appropriate locations only
- If applicable, take 5 min at the end of the shift to bring your work area back to the outlined 5S standard
- Correct any deviations from these 5S standards immediately

9.0 Qualification**:

- Ability to use scanning equipment (RF guns)
- Ability to read and follow work instructions
- Ability to read pick tickets, production dispatch lists
- Ability to operate ship verification and Shiplinx systems
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of all quality related requirements for inspection
- Valid Fork Lift license
- Successful completion of all applicable pre-employment testing
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

10.0 Educational Requirements**:

- O.S.S.D or equivalent
- Successful completion of all tests related to the position

11.0 Additional Skills / Knowledge Requirements / Other**:

- Complies with all company policies and procedures
- Performs other tasks as assigned by management
