Intervention Support Worker

PAQ is an indigenous organization that supports First Nations, Inuit and Métis people facing housing insecurity in Tio'tià: ke / Montreal. Using a culturally appropriate approach based on empowerment and harm reduction, we provide housing options, accommodation and services that promote wellness and healing, and strengthen community. We work in partnership with others to promote the health and housing rights of urban Indigenous peoples.
We are launching a new shuttle service to transport PAQ users from one resource to another, following a predefined route. On board the shuttle, a driver and a shuttle support worker will constantly accompany users from site to site, providing constant support and ensuring everyone's safety.
**Duties and responsibilities**
- Reporting to and collaborate with the Program Manager and Shuttle Driver
- Ensure the safety of the shuttle users and welcoming users on board
- Provide services to meet the needs of Indigenous people experiencing homelessness in Montreal by connecting them to existing resources on the island.
- Welcome, inform and guide users, while building a bond of trust with them.
- Register users and support the driver during on-call periods.
- Keep the shuttle clean and tidy.
- De-escalate situations as needed.

**Required knowledge, skills and experience**
- Interest in the history of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada;
- Relevant experience in intervention, social work or similar fields related to the helping relationship;
- Solution-oriented, open to new ideas and committed to continuous improvement.
- Perseverance in problem-solving
- Experience living or working with Indigenous communities or individuals.
- Experience working or volunteering with the homeless, substance abusers or people with mental health issues is a strong asset.
- Bilingualism (functional English and French); Indigenous languages an asset.
- Sense of empathy
- Professional ethics
- First aid certification is an asset.

**Compensation**:$20/hour, 4% vacation (2 weeks), For full-time employment: Insurance coverage after 3 months of employment
**Status**:Full-time (35 hours) or part-time (14 to 28 hours) positions available
**Work schedule** - Choice between:
- 5:30 am - 12:30 pm pm
- 5:30 pm - 12:30 am
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
**Salary**: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 14 - 28 per week
