**Duties**:
Basic Function of the Position:
Provides advice, research, and reporting on the full range of Canadian Arctic political, security, economic, cultural, and social issues, analyzing their impact on Mission goals, U.S. priorities and interests, and predicting future trends. Establishes and cultivates high-level contacts across all sectors of Canadian Arctic society; assists in implementing Embassy cultural programs and in identifying participants for academic, professional, and private sector exchanges. Supports travel by U.S. officials and officers within the Canadian Arctic and facilitates their relationships with Arctic officials and the public. Provides translation and interpretation services to/from French and English as required.

EXPERIENCE:
For Grade LE-09 is: a Minimum of two years of prior work experience in practical Canadian Arctic, Quebec provincial, or Canadian federal politics, business, or journalism in government, with a political party, academic, law firm, international business, or press-journalism is required.

For grade LE-10 is: a Minimum of three years of prior work experience in practical Canadian Arctic, Quebec provincial, or Canadian federal politics, business, or journalism in government, with a political party, academic, law firm, international business, or press-journalism is required.
- Education Requirements:
EDUCATION: M.A. or M.S. degree with a major in political science, Arctic and/or indigenous affairs, business/economics, journalism is required
- Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: English - Fluent in speaking/reading/writing, may include the ability to translate. This may be tested.

French - Fluent in speaking/reading/writing. This may be tested.
