Mission Community Services Society is helping people, changing lives and building community. We have an immediate opportunity to join our team as a Residence Worker.

Residence Workers support participants in a residential setting to identify individual goals and develop life skills necessary to live as independently as possible. Service delivery is based on a client centered, trauma informed and non-judgmental perspective.

This position will be Tuesday thru Saturday from midnight to 8:00 am.

**What you’ll do**
- Encourage and support clients to live as fully and independently as possible.
- Participate in the assessment, goal setting and program planning for clients.
- Provide supervision and support to mitigate individual and program risk to ensure safety, comfort, and wellness.
- Work closely with identified community resources for each client.
- Actively involve clients in decision making to improve their own identity, purpose, and self-esteem.
- Complete wellness checks/room checks.
- Monitor and move along community members who are loitering in and around the property.
- Provide crisis intervention as required including overdose responses by ensuring immediate access to medical services and completing necessary critical incident reports.
- Participate in all mandatory staff meetings and in-service presentations.
- Adhere to the organizations code of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Maintain connections with related community agencies, health/social services, and organizations.
- Maintain and submit accurate reports and statistics.
- Participate in the assessment, goal setting and program planning (Personal Service Plan) for individuals living in a residence. Document, implement, and provide input into the evaluation of the program.
- Provide life skills training such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care skills and personal finance and implement personal service plans.
- Participate in various client-focused activities in accordance with care plans.
- Recognize, analyze, and deal with potential emergency situations such as clients’ aggressive behaviour to ensure no harm comes to the client and/or the public. Report problems to the Program Coordinator/Manager.
- Provide emotional support and feedback to residents and their families.
- Perform residence housekeeping duties such as laundry, sweeping, mopping floors, mowing lawns, inventory, shopping, cleaning equipment and food services.
- Maintain reports such as statistics, logbooks, daily activities.
- Identify social, economic, recreational, and educational services in the community that will meet clients’ needs.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**What you bring**
- Post-secondary education, plus a minimum 2 years’ experience working with relevant population, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or MANDT training.
- Successful completion of Criminal Record check.

Previous experience and relevant knowledge about:

- Substance use, addiction, mental illness, and recovery;
- The needs of individuals with concurrent disorders;
- Harm reduction and housing first model and the concept of barriers to housing;
- Maintaining appropriate client/worker boundaries.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $25.05-$28.75 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
